Description

Presented is an antique, Georgian English sterling silver kettle stand made by Joseph and John Angell of London in 1836. Exquisitely detailed foliate scrolls in richly textured silver flow in lovely symmetry from top to bottom, end to end. The feet are ruffled and pleated and richly veined and the entire piece polishes to a luminous finish. The photos cannot do this piece justice because of so many light reflections, but please maximize them to appreciate what we were able to capture for you.
The stand is hallmarked both on the top exterior and also on the underside of the fuel bowl. There is a leopard city mark for London, sterling purity mark of the lion passant, date letter for 1836 and the maker's mark, JA/IA for Joseph and John Angell.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are two small dents in the fuel bowl  that will never be seen once you rest your teapot into place. The rest of the stand is so weighty, so solidly made with sterling silver, it is nearly indestructible, and after over 180 years, we are very grateful for that! We think that you will be too.
Dimensions: The stand measures about 8 inches high and 7 3/4 inches long and 7 inches wide
Weight: 45 oz (1276 grams) grams
