Description

Presented is a superb English Georgian sterling silver coffee or tea pot. This piece dates to 1735 and was made by Thomas Farren. The teapot is done in a classic lighthouse form, with an elegantly scrolled carved wooden handle. The teapot has an intricate engraved crest on one side, of an eagle in an ornate cartouche beneath another bird. The teapot is sturdy and well made, with a nice feeling of weight in the hand.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter V for 1735, and the maker's mark for Thomas Farren.
The pot is in great condition. There are a few very minor dings here and there, but nothing of any consequence. The handle is original, and is mounted securely. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The pot stands about 8 3/4 inches tall.
The pot weighs 701 grams or 24.7 regular ounces.
