Product Description
This magnificent antique Edwardian sterling silver 5 piece tea and coffee set consists of a spirit kettle, coffee pot, teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl.
Each piece has a plain circular rounded form onto a domed circular spreading foot, in an Art Nouveau style.
The surface of each piece is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a lion's head erased.
The body of each piece is encompassed with applied moulded girdles; the upper girdle parallels the handle sockets and spouts.
The teapot, coffee pot and tea kettle are all fitted with plain domed hinged hallmarked covers surmounted with sterling silver bifurcating scrolling leaf finials.
The tea kettle has a large embossed scrolling handle ornamented with impressive Art Nouveau style scrolling leaf decorated terminals, incorporating a plain sterling silver handpiece to the centre.
The teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with embossed sterling silver reed handles, reflecting the same Art Nouveau design as the handle to the kettle.
The coffee pot, teapot and kettle are fitted with impressive plain swan necked spouts.
The tea kettle is supported on the original circular hallmarked stand which incorporates a plain frame which accommodates the original, detachable, hallmarked spirit burner.
This impressive stand is supported by three impressive reed legs embellished with embossed leaf decoration to the upper portion and terminating with paw feet.
The spirit kettle stand is fitted with the original chains and hallmarked security pegs.
Condition
This Edwardian 5 piece tea and coffee set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The interior of each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece are all clear, in keeping with age and location.
