    Description

    Antique Burmese
    colonial silver hinged lid box possibly Madras Region. Elephant crowned hinged lid with dancing figures on walls in architectural temple decor & floral details. Claw footed base. Slight damage on 2 lid corners (see pics)

    The figured 4 wall panels are decorated with well defined Burmese dancing deities in high relief repousse in temple arch frames. (12 dieties total)
    each bearing objects some with wings. 5" x 3 1/2" tall 5.5 oz. 204.7 Grams
    I did some research and found a very similar but unmarked bowl online - Early 20th possibly late 19th century Anglo Indian silver repousse. Likely intended for food or ceremonial use.
    From research, the style suggests it may be of Madras origin and it might be dating to around 1880 but I am not an expert so please judge for yourself - I can send additional photos or close ups if required.
    My grandfather purchased these on a trip in the 30's and has been in the family since.
