What will you get?
You will get exactly the items pictured in the primary photo.
One of a kind:
like all true, hand-enameled c
loisonné, these items are unique - truly one-of-a-kind - please see the photos for colors, any unique characteristics, or subtle imperfections.
Condition:
Every cloisonné item I sell is an antique, or at least older-vintage. Most are in excellent condition, showing little to no use. Some items show minor wear from use, and others may have minor chips, or more moderate wear. I have done my best to both describe and photograph the items, highlighting any flaws.
Please
look carefully at the photos, and make your own judgment as to the condition. Ask questions if you would like to know more or have more detailed photographs. All items are sold AS-IS, with no returns.
What is Cloisonné?
The word comes from the French meaning "enclosed", and is an ancient metal and enamel technique in which "compartments" or cells are added to a metal object such as a metal vase or bowl. This is done by soldering to the vessel thin silver or gold or brass wires or strips on edge. These are visible in the finished piece, separating the different compartments. Colored enamel powder is then used to fill the cells. The entire item is then fired in a kiln and subsequently polished. The result is a unique item which is functional, durable, and quite beautiful.
