    Antique Chinese Pigskin Hat Box Leather 17

    Century Lacquered c. early 1800’s Cone-Topped
    Up for auction is a very old Chinese leather pigskin conned-topped hat box I got today from a high-end estate.
    The box has a typed label and read Kia Ching 1796-1820 which we believe this is the original owner.
    The box in in really nice shape with little wear.
    It is red lacquer pigskin.
    Inside is lined with blue woven fabric.
    There are partial hinges on each side.
    There is a handle on the bottom.
    Inside the handle is dried old grass.
    We believe this came from a high-end Antique Store Maybe in Chicago or New York.
    Box measures 14.5” across and 12.5” at the peak.
    Boxes are hard to find this nice and this old.
