    Description

The tea service is from the early 20
    th
century.  I believe it is from around 1927. The set is comprised of a tea pot, sugar bowl and milk jug. Each piece is chased and applied with rustic scenes of peasant merry-making featuring repousse decoration of tavern and gaming scenes to all four panels.
The R133 stamp is the maker’s mark who is Cornelis Rietveld of Norway.
The key mark (used from 1853-1953) is stamped intruding upon the rampant lion indicates the object was designated for export. The number 2 under the rampant lion indicates 2
    nd
standard purity; minimum .833 silver.  The Minerva head stamp on the lid is a duty mark for the Schoonhoven assay office. This mark was used from 1906-1953)
The total weight of the three pieces is 1080 GRAMS.
This set was taken to an antiques dealer in 1999. He estimated the set to be from 1814 to 1940s. He thought it to be from Schoonhoven, Netherlands. He said it is made of .833 fine Continental Sterling. The handle on the tea pot is made of ebony wood. All 3 pieces depict the same 4 scenes on each piece. One panel shows two people seated at a table playing game with a small dog at their feet while a mother holding a small child observe the game. Another panel appears to be a man and women dancing while an older women looks on. While another panel has two young boys sitting at a table outside while one of them has a pint of ale in his hand. The fourth panel shows a gentleman sitting at a table with long pipe in his mouth while being observed by a woman standing behind a door and a man pouring a drink behind him.
The handles are dragons and the sugar and creamer containers have claw feet while the tea pot has an ebony wood handle with a dragon head.
The service has a lion with a key passant stamped on the bottom of each piece as well as what I believe to be R133. The lid of the tea pot has a mark of the side profile of a persons head.
