    Description

Antique Ebony & Sterling Silver Lid Finial from a .925 Silver Teapot UK Ca 1925
    Measurements:
    Wooden finial is 1 1/8” long x ¾” tall x 13/16” wide
The bolt is 1 ¾” long & has it original wing-nut
    Weight: 2.1 oz. (59 g)
This auction is for one finial that was salvaged from a hallmarked sterling silver teapot made in the United Kingdom: the teapot is shown in the last two pics but is NOT included in this auction.
The handle is being sold in a separate listing.
The wood is solid with some aging showing, including a partial crack on each outer side of the base near the hole.  No chips or nicks on the decorative top edge.
It fit securely on an oval lid that was 3 1/8” x 2 1/16”.
The wood section cleaned up nicely with a little furniture polish to the deep black color shown.
It is solid wood, likely ebony, though I am not certain.
A local and established retail gold and silver buyer assessed and verified the silver content of the threaded column and wing-nut.
It’s a rare and useful part!
