Antique English advertising crock Horner’s Devonshire Clotted Cream - PInk.
This is a fabulous Victorian pink colored transferware cream crock -circa 1880s.
This lovely crock reads -Horner’s Devonshire Clotted Cream Horner’s cream cheese can generally be procured where this is sold. Established 1846.(front side). The back of the crock reads-For use with tarts, stewed fruits it is unrivalled, and to coffee, cocoa,and chocolate it gives a richness and flavor unapproachable.
Children and persons requiring a nutritive diet are by its free use greatly benefitted, and in cases of debility and consumption, it is highly commended and prescribed by the medical profession. “ Entered At Stationers Hall”
To Be Kept Dry, And Cool. Not On Ice Or It Turns Fusty.
This very old crock is in very good condition. It has no chips or cracks. There is one flea bite on the rim , discoloration and crazing throughout the piece. The transfer is pink, but most likely was red when produced. It is pretty little crock and hard to come by. It would look wonderful with a grouping of old advertising crocks or with your ironstone collection.
