Beautiful 1892 Gorham Sterling Silver Coffee Mocha Chocolate Pot
Presented is a lovely antique Gorham sterling silver coffee or chocolate pot,
dated 1892. The pot features beautiful decoration in the form of a continuous
band of scallop shells around the base and likewise a band of classical foliate
scrollwork around the mouth. Both the lid and the lower portion of the body have
a bold ribbed design, matching the finer ribbed decoration on the underside of
the spout. The pot has a capacity of about 3 1/2 cups, or 28 fluid
ounces/828milliliters.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. There are a couple of dings to
the body here and there, but nothing of any real significance. There are no
splits, no dents, no leaks, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and
no repairs.
This piece is stamped with the maker's mark for Gorham as well as sterling,
the year mark for 1892, and a product number 4095.
The pot weighs 519 grams or 18.3 regular ounces.
The pot stands about 8 1/8 inches tall at the top of the finial and measures
about 7 1/2 inches from spout to handle.
