Description

A sterling silver coffee pot or hot water jug.
Cylindrical, conical shape with figural double-scroll handle
made of a fruitwood and attached to silver ferrules with rivets.
Handle is secure - no play.
Domed hinged lid with figural finial made of silver and fruitwood.
Mirror luster - high polished in and out.

Engraved monogram with a script Gothic letter "B"
Marked underside:
"Sterling" for .925/1000 silver purity;
numerals "9486" probably manufacturers code;
"1 1/2 Pts." for capacity;
number "5" probably for pattern;
"Black, Starr & Gorham" for manufacturers.
Made in New York, N.Y., ca.1940's.
