Burlington Northern RR Adlake Kero Switchman's Lantern-Clear Cast Globe

This is an excellent Burlington Northern Railroad Adlake Kero switchman's lantern. Outstanding condition for its age! Lots of good clean original tin/metal. This lantern led a very easy life and had very little use! "BN ING" is cast into the top rim of the lantern. It has a correct Adlake fount and burner. Lid opens and closes properly. The globe comes with an interesting story. Obtained from a former BN employee, he told us that the "cat eye wound" in the globe came from "target practice." In his words...."When the RR was no longer using these lanterns, we would take BB guns and use them for target practice. There were boxes of new, unused globes in the storerooms, and we would blow 'em up! This one just got nicked and somehow didn't break!" The globe is cast with "ADLAKE KERO and the Corning "CNX" logo, and has it's original "BB" mark in it. A nice piece you will be proud to add to a collection!
