Description
This is a Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul (Milwaukee Road) Railroad C.T. Ham Switchman's lantern. As you will see in one of the photos, it has a patent date of 12/26/1893. This is a rare, brass top #39 model, double wired, single guard. Outstanding condition for its age! Lots of good clean metal. It has its original brass burner, and twist off fount that comes off easily. There is a solder repair to the clip that helps snap the fount on and off. The globe is a clear Corning CNX globe, with the "CNX" logo cast in it, as well as "C.M & St. P. Ry." cast into it. The globe has several cracks in it, and chips near the top rim, but is intact. I wish we could offer you a replacement globe, but there is something said for having the original globe, which is what most folks want, and of course, these early globes are hard to find in any condition. Lid opens and closes properly. A super-rare item that certainly will be a highlight of a Milwaukee Road or lantern collection!VISIT US AT JM HOBBY SUPPLY FOR HUNDREDS OF MORE GREAT RAILROAD ARTIFACTS!
