Chinese Antique Hand-Carved Wedding Box, 13" high, 12" wide. Weight 4.5 pounds
A basket of this high-quality was primarily given as a wedding gift. This authentic box, c.1880, may sometimes be called a lunch box, according to my research.
It has an ornately hand-carved handle, is 13" high, 12" wide, and weighs approx. 4.5 pounds, with brass banding around the top and bottom and brass fittings on the front.
A small remnant of the original wax seal that was used when it was brought from China is still on the box. Excellent condition.

An unusually beautiful example of a traditional wedding box. Purchased more than 20 years ago from elderly collector on Cape Cod who specialized in Chinese pieces.
No odor, mold or mildew. Smoke-free, pet-free home.
