Qing Dynasty Jiaqing Period (1796-1820). Blue and white porcelain seal paste ink box or rouge powder pot with "shuangxi" double happiness Chinese character symbol and sweet pea motifs, the underglaze blue color is very nice and finely painted
This box contained ink paste used for traditional Chinese seals.
This item would have been part of a group of accessories used in calligraphy.
Items with the double happiness symbol were given- and are still given - as wedding gifts - the shuangxi symbol wishing happiness and the sweet pea motif wishing many children.

This is a beautiful antique Chinese blue white underglaze porcelain paste /cosmetics box with decorated Chinese characters double happiness, floral and foliage, Qing Dynasty, 19th as century or older. The lovely jar box is in very nice condition with no chips or cracks but does show wear and fading consistent with age. Box measures 3-3/4” inches in diameter and is 2” inches tall.
Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a unique gift.
