Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Paste Box Kangxi Period c 1700

Description

A nice large round covered porcelain paste box or cosmetics box from the Kangxi period with a rich deep blue cobalt painting of a rose bush with blades of grass. The glaze is nice thick bluish white glaze with a very soft feel.
The base unglazed flange fits the lid unglazed mouth rim snugly. The shallow foot ring is unglazed. It is hand potted. You can see the wheel marks from the potter on the foot ring and the interior.

¼” (5.7 cm) tall. Weighs 7.0 oz (195 g)
CONDITION
There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are little nicks along the foot ring. The box looks and feels like it was salvaged from the sea. The glaze has a softened look. The interior still has a shiny appearance. There are scratches from wear on the lid.
An antique paste box that has survived to today with a rich cobalt design. It will be a nice addition to an antique blue and white collection or décor.
