    Description

    Here we have a beautiful Chinese, black and red lacquer antique smoking box featuring a wonderful inlaid and engraved mother of pearl and abalone outdoor scene with nicely rendered deer, clouds, auspicious crows, mountains with moon, a mill with water wheel, and various foliage, the whole surrounded by stepped molding and accented with an inlaid Greek key frieze. The reddish brown inlaid and molded interior includes a lidded compartment for cigarettes, a depression for box matches and an embossed metal ash tray. Very good condition with some touch up along the edge and corners as would be expected. Measures 12-1/4" x 6-1/4" x 3-1/2" tall. C.1920's
