Chinese Qing Red Lacquer Gilt Decorated Wood Leather Skin Dowry Box, Signed Poem

DESCRIPTION:
Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty red lacquered leather wooden box with metal mounts. Fine gilt/gold lacquer decorations on all 4 sides & on the cover. The painting depicted numerous figures within a mansion compound including a garden with pond/man made lake. The poem on the cover loosely translate as “Loyalty & prosperity for all future generations”.
Inside cover with a cartouche of the maker's name. Interior has a stamped label showing the location/address of the maker & the description of the product. It said “Hangcheng”, possibly means Hangzhou. The interesting part is the description of the product. It said “finely made gilt decorated cow leather dowry box”. Established scholarship always referring this type of box as “pig skin”. But this label said it is cow leather. In addition, similar size & shape of this box was commonly called document box, but turns out it is a dowry box.
The overall color is quite dark, due to long time oxidation of the lacquer.
I found the drawing of the figures quite similar to those on late Ming early Qing porcelain, possibly this box is an early Qing piece.
SIZE:
Approx. 13 1/8 inches wide, 7.25 in. deep & 2 3/8 in. tall.
CONDITION:
The usual age & use flaws, such as warped, shrinkage, crackles, cracks, wears, scratches, touch-ups,... etc & as shown in photos. Two inserts on the hinge appear to be replacements.
