Description
For your consideration is a heavily carved historic redfaux cinnabar soap box from the Hotel Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s oldest hotel features 300 rooms and room generally start in the 0 range and up. This box Originally contained luxury soap and was placed in the suites at Hong Kong's legendary Peninsula Hotel, the boxes were souvenir items for the guests and could be used for trinket or keepsake boxes after the soap had been used. Interesting is the fact that this box still retains the scent of the luxury soap it held. Very rich luxurious scent not offensive at all. Taken from the website for the Peninsula hotel it states, “The Peninsula Hong Kong is a colonial-style luxury hotel located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is the flagship property of The Peninsula Hotels group, part of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels Group. The hotel opened in 1928 and was the first under The Peninsula brand. Expanded in 1994, the hotel combines colonial and modern elements, and is notable for its large fleet of Rolls-Royces painted a distinctive "Peninsula green". Measuring approximately 4” square and 2" in height. In great pre-Owned and used condition with light wear from age. The outside color is identical to cinnabar, although not real cinnabar you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference. If one didn’t know better you would absolutely think it was made of actual cinnabar. The inside of the box is s Matt black. Just a neat little historic piece from a prestigious Asian hotel with some history behind it. Please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of the listing.
