    Description

DigiTech Whammy Ricochet Pitch Shift Pedal
    ITEM INCLUDES
    DESCRIPTION
Intended for electric guitar players, the Whammy Ricochet from DigiTech delivers classic Whammy sounds and is housed in a stompbox form factor that is more compact than the original, and without a treadle. Replacing the traditional, integrated expression pedal for pitch manipulation are separate controls to adjust the rise and fall time by means of stacked, concentric Shift and Return knobs. A Pitch selector knob allows you to set your desired interval of the pitch-shifted note, and a Range switch dictates whether you’ll be shifting your signal upwards or downwards in pitch. In either case, the LED Trajectory ladder will give you a visual readout for how the pedal is manipulating your pitch.
Seven intervallic selections are available, including 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, Octave, Double Octave, and Octave+Dry for a unison stacked pitch sound, which, when combined with distortion, can often sound quite commanding and impactful in rhythm parts. Quite an interesting feature of this pedal is the Momentary toggle switch, which allows you to utilize the bypass footswitch in a variety of ways. It even changes the bypass footswitch from buffered to true bypass, depending on the mode you’re using. For a full description of the Momentary switch’s various operational functions, please see the Features section below.
Controls and Indicators at a Glance
    Ballistics Knobs:
This concentric pot consists of two knobs, Shift and Return. The Shift knob sets the rate at which the incoming note will be pitch shifted to the selected interval when the effect is enabled. The Return knob sets the rate at which the incoming note will return to its normal pitch when the effect is bypassed.
    Pitch Knob:
This knob sets the interval of the pitch-shifted note. Pitch will be shifted up or down depending on the position of the Range switch.
    Effect Footswitch:
This turns the effect on or off. This Footswitch can be configured for momentary or latched operation using the Momentary switch.
    Range Switch:
This selects whether the pitch of the incoming signal will be shifted up or down.
    Trajectory LED Ladder:
These LEDs light in sequential order to provide a visual indication of pitch-shifting direction and rate. For example, the LEDs will light from top to bottom when the incoming note is shifted down. Conversely, the LEDs will light from bottom to top when the incoming note is shifted up. When the effect is bypassed, these LEDs will cycle in the direction selected by the Range switch at two-second intervals.
    Momentary Switch, Covered in Depth
This toggle switch sets the operation of the Footswitch. When set to the “On” position, the Whammy effect will only be enabled for as long as the Footswitch is held down. When set to the “Off” position, the Whammy effect will toggle between enabled and bypassed modes each time the Footswitch is pressed. Please note, when the Momentary switch is set to the “On” position, the Whammy Ricochet will use a buffered bypass signal path; with the Momentary switch in the "Off position, the Whammy Ricochet provides a hard-wired bypass signal path.
For further control possibilities, you can hold down the footswitch, flip the Momentary switch from “Off” to “On”, and flip the order of operations; now, the effect will always be on and pressing the Footswitch will momentarily deactivate the effect. To restore the bypass setting to its default, set the Momentary switch to the “Off” position and use the Footswitch to bypass the effect before setting the Momentary switch back to the “On” position.
The Momentary switch, in conjunction with bypass Footswitch, also allows you to change between Classic and Chords modes. Classic mode is, as the name would suggest, the classic Whammy algorithm, while Chords gives you the algorithm from the Whammy DT. The former is suited for single-note solos, while the latter is geared towards manipulating the pitch of entire chords. In default, the pedal is set to Chords. You can switch between settings by following the steps as dictated in the user manual.
