Description
Absolutely stunning sterling silver claret set by London silversmiths John, Edward, Walter and John Barnard (Barnard & Sons), Circa 1851. The set includes the claret jug/ewer with a baluster form, narrow neck, hinged lid and curved handle all set on a rounded base. The hand chased design on both the jug and the goblets feature beautiful floral and ribbon designs and gilt interiors. The two matching goblets stand on rounded bases, narrow stems and wide mouths. The goblets have additional details featuring a bird and what appears to be a family crest. Each piece is marked with makers marks and sterling silver date marks.The claret jug measures approx. 13 3/4" from base to the top of the handle. 756.1 g
