    Description

Georg Jensen by Wendel A/S, sterling silver, hand hammered coffee pot, from 1945-1951 in pattern number 71B designed in Art Deco style around the 1910s/1920s. This elegant coffee pot is beautifully hand hammered with fruit detailing and a wood handle. It measures 10" from handle to spout by 10 3/4" in height with the lid, weighs 34.1 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks as shown. This coffee pot is illustrated in authoritative books on Jensen, for instance on page 219 of "Georg Jensen A Tradition of Splendid Silver" by Janet Drucker, and as number 2 on page 74 in "Georg Jensen Holloware The Silver Fund Collection" by David Taylor and Jason Laskey.
Danish silversmith George Jensen set up his own silver business in 1904 in Copenhagen. Jensen's training in metalsmithing -- along with his education in the fine arts -- allowed him to combine the two disciplines and revive the tradition of the artist craftsman. Soon, the beauty and quality of his creations caught the eye of the public and his success was assured.
