    Description

We are offering this lovely English Georgian Period sterling silver coffee pot with a rare early Sheffield maker's mark.  It was made by John and Thomas Settle in 1797.  The base, lid and handle are bear these hallmarks (with the base hallmark being most distinct).  It is done in what I would have thought was a bit earlier style with gadrooning on the lower edge of the base, on the lid and on the edges of the spout and mouth of the pot.  The original finial is also has a gadrooned border centered with a rose blossom.  The body of the piece is in a lighthouse shape with a loop handle decorated with an acanthus leaf.  The overall height of the piece (to top of finial) is 7 7/8" and the base has a diameter of 4 3/8".  It weighs a total of 668 grams.  There are a two minor dents in the body of the piece the are hardly noticable (visible in our second photo).  Otherwise the piece is in lovely original condition.
