Description
GERSTNER & SONS 82 MARK 2 MASTER TOOL CHESTThe Gerstner & Sons 82 Mark 2 Master Tool Chest is one of the
most popular tool chests. It is designed for the crafstmen who
needs storage space and protection for a large selection of
tools.
Gerstner tool chests are a necessity in the machine trades, to
protect mics, vernier tooling, and any other type of small
gauge/inspection tooling which must not be allowed to rust,
not even the tiniest bit. The wood absorbs any moisture
content in the air, rather than allowing any moisture to form
on the tooling from condensation due to ambient temperature
change.
At one time, there were a number of makers of hardwood tool
chests of the same general patterns. Gerstner
works is the only survivor today, having remained in business
to present day.
Dimensions are 26"W x 16 3/4"H x 10 1/2"D; Interior capacity: 2275 cu. in.
Features include: 4" Deep top compartment, with lockable handbook
and valuble drawer. Green felt interior. Chrome plated hardware, GO82-Golden
Oak finish Box.
Please note that the front cover is missing, but a replacement
can be ordered on the Gernster website, as well as replacement
keys, as neither were included when I acquired it. Overall the finish
appears to me to be in excellent condition, other than some
light patches on the top as shown in the photos.
The felt could use a good cleaning, but it all appears to be
in good shape. I do not see any excessive wear, holes, or tears.
I did not make any attempt to clean the chest in any way as I
really don't know what I am doing and didn't want to possibly
damage it in any way.
I am no way any type of expert on these tool chests, but I have tried to point out everything that I see with regards to it. If my description is inaccurate, or omitting something, please let me know. And should you require any additional photos, or want me to examine something on the chest more closely for you, please let me know.
