Description

Fairfax sterling silver coffee and tea set. Made by Gorham and Durgin (part of Gorham) in Providence, ca 1940. This set comprises 5 pieces: Coffeepot, teapot, creamer, sugar, and waste bowl.
Each: Straight and tapering body with chamfered corners, on straight and chamfered foot. Handles scroll bracket. Covers gently raised with soft faceting (pot covers hinged), finials chamfered with bead, and spouts faceted except for creamer, which has u-form spout. An early 20th-century pattern that captures the emerging geometric style.
All pieces fully marked. Teapot has Gorham maker's stamp, pattern name, and no. 04. All other pieces have Durgin maker?s stamp, Shaw & Brown Co. retailer's stamp, and no. 4.
