    Description

    This daguerreotype features a handsome young gentleman with sideburns wearing a large straw sun hat. He also wore a white waistcoat and his cheeks were tinted. The image was taken by Walter B. Eastman in Boston, Massachusetts. Eastman operated Plumbe's National Daguerreian Gallery at 75 Court Street which explains why the business card was found behind the image.
    The 1/9 plate was resealed with new glass and the case measures about 2.5 x 3 inches. There is a ping in the background to the right of his head.
