Indian Colonial Solid Silver Tea Set Jug Teapot Tray Antique with Box

Description

A Indian colonial silver tea set dating to the mid 20th century or thereabout. The teapot, jar and beaker are hallmarked SILVER. The tray is unmarked. All four items are likely to be made of solid silver (except for the teapot handle and hinges). The exact purity is unclear, but should be more than 800. Tested with a sliding magnet, which slides slowly on the inclined surfaces.
The weight of each item is as follows:
- Teapot, 880g
- Jar, 278g
- Beaker, 265g
- Tray, 700g
Measurements:
- Teapot measures about 19cm tall
- Jar and beaker each measures 11cm tall
- Tray measures about 25cm x 36cm
Condition:
- Surface scratches and wear from use and polishing
- Surface tarnish, stains and old fingerprint marks. Tray has an old sticker mark to the base.
- The interior of the teapot spout is more significantly tarnished as it has not been polished.
Two red storage boxes are included in this lot. The boxes may not be original to this tea set.
