1961-1971.
A signed letter from the U-Thant family will
be included in the sale.
A near identical Indian claret jug was exhibited in the
Indian and Colonial Exposition 1911, Calcutta
and
is illustrated page 36 Wilkinson's text.
This U-Thant service
features boldly fashioned dragon handles
and
brilliantly hand raised scenes of Indian daily life,
sailing ships, pilgrims, animals
and Hindu scenes.
Also a bird head demon mask spout,
full body diety handle, and
retains the original foo lion finial.
It is completely hand crafted
and signed by the maker as shown.
It has never been monogrammed.
This Indian sterling silver U-Thant family presentation demon spout teapot is 11 inches
handle to spout and the complete set weighs a touch over 75 standard ounces.
In very fine condition.
Interior clean as if little, if ever used.
Rich sterling patina.
The set retains the original hand decorated detail.
Hallmarked as shown, including the maker's mark a K in circle,
and sterling silver.
