This device has found its way into many of Eddie Van Halen's recordings, adding a shimmery velocity to lead passages or a more dramatic swoosh to muted strumming. Not just for guitars; it works well with bass, keyboards and even vocals. Vary the speed from a subtle, long cycle to a fast, watery warble...and myriad vintage vibrations in between.

Our script mod
improves the sound of this pedal
by helping to
eliminate the noticeable mid-boost distortion.
This pedal is now
warmer
and
less extreme
... more like the now very expensive version of the one made back in the mid 70’s when I used to play (Yep, I’m getting old).
I am referring to
the original version that practically defined the classic phase shifter sound, and was heard on everything from hard rock to jazz fusion to funk hits.
And yes, we also replace the
LED
with a bright water clear blue LED. The LED is clear when off, and a very noticeable blue when the effect is on.
Notes:
-There is more to the script mod than clipping or removing R28.
-There is a newer Script Reissue Phase 90 being sold now. It's not a bad sounding pedal...but it is SMT (uses surface mount technology). SMT effects pedals have very tiny components like in your computer. SMT pedals are not easy to get worked on or to get modified.
-The EVH Phase 90 is
the same pedal
on the inside as the Script Reissue Phase 90.
