Description
Pompeiian sterling silver coffee and tea set on tray. Made by Mt Vernon in Mount Vernon, New York, ca 1920. This set comprises kettle on stand, coffeepot, teapot, creamer, sugar, and waste bowl on tray.Each: Ovoid body on round foot mounted to square base, reeded scroll bracket handles, and domed cover with vasiform finial. Vitruvian scroll rims interspersed with paterae and engraved garlands. On front oval medallion inset with bacchante. On back vacant oval medallion. Kettle stand on 4 ram monopodium supports. Creamer has helmet mouth and gilt-washed interior. Tray is oval and has gilt rectangular tablets with cherubs engaged in allegorical activities at ends.
