Rare Antique Vintage MESSENGERS IMPROVED HURICANE LANTERN Tubular Kerosene Oil Lantern Lamp.  The top brass tag reads - IMPROVED HURRICANE LANTERN MESSENGERS MANUFACTURERS BIRMINGHAM.  The bottom brass tag reads - MESSENGER & SONS MAKERS BIRMINGHAM.  The thumbscrew is marked - MESSENGERS BIRM.
The lantern measures about 11 1/2 inches tall, 5 1/4 inches deep and 5 1/8 inches across.  The lantern is strong and sturdy with no rusted through holes or repairs.  No dents or dings to speak of , no splits or cracks.  The burner thumbscrew turns correctly and the wick goes up and down.
The globe measures about 6  inches tall, 3 1/4 inches across the bottom and 2 5/8 inches across the top.  No cracks or large chips on the globe, the globe is signed with a paper label marked 170.
