    Description

    RARE.  One of kind artisan listing.
    Unlike other listings this one is black with glittery paints.  Most other skulls are painted in bright primary colors or made of paper mâché.  This one is made of pottery/ceramic and is substantive and heavier than others.   Skull has a semi-geometric pattern surface and is intricately detailed with very thin brush strokes.  Zoom in to appreciate highly executed artisanship.
    Overall black background with matte golden maize taupe and yellows.  Black represents the land of the dead.  Accented with "grass blades" of neon green and army green. Accented with magical white swirls and curlicues throughout.  If you look at the front, the grass blades are on one side but not the other. Yet viewing from the back, the "blade" strokes are somewhat symetrically patterned on both sides.  Sparkly gold paint is scattered throughout with a light glaze finish.
    Sunshine picks up sparkles in paint and the highly reflective surface makes this item difficult to photograph accurately.  You might see the appearance of white splotches in the photos but this the surface reflection.  There is one light errant white brushstroke as shown in the last photo - everything else is light reflection. Noted some light paint drippings inside from the insdie corners of the eyes, this cannot be seen when displayed.
    This is a hand-painted piece, serene and a unique presentation befitting of a special altar to may homage to your deceased.  Wonderful addition to your room or your Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) altar.  Handsome to view from every angle.
