Description
Beautiful Swedish Solid Silver Coffee Pot with Cut-out Gallery Surround Top and Base with Four Lion Paw Feet Hallmarked Hans Lyberg of Boras1806-1848Presented is a fantastic Swedish Coffee Pot with Hallmarks for silver by Hans Lyberg of Boras made c1812. I have posted pictures of my research on these marks in the photo’s above. This item is marked for 830 fine silver; American standard sterling silver is 925 fine, so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. This stunning coffee pot has a great cut-out gallery surround above a chased leaf motif band decoration on the top that hold a removable oval lid with a gold wash ball shaped finial as well as a cut-out gallery surround on a removable base with four lion paw post feet, a wood handle, and a great mixed letter monogram on the bottom next to marks. This pot has a flat bottom and great detailing holding a good 6 cups of liquid or 6 ¼ cups to the brim and has only a few minor dings a slight wiggle to wood handle and some fine scratches from gentle use and care. Swedish silver of this period was considered one of the highest standards of art and metalwork of its day and is still one of the most collectable antiques for the silver collector.
I have an interesting selection of items listed currently so please look at my other auctions.
