    Description

    Tiffany 4 Piece Tea Set John Moore Sterling Silver 1850s Mono
    Tiffany & Co. sterling silver 4-piece tea set, including teapot, creamer, covered sugar bowl and waste bowl. All pieces have footed lobed round form body, decorated with applied bands in spear point egg & dart pattern. Handles feature hollow scroll form with foliate motifs. Teapot has hinged lid, decorated with figural flower finial, matching sugar bowl's cover. Spout is accented with acanthus leaves. On the side of each item, there is an engraved curly ornate monogram "EM". Made by John C. Moore for Tiffany & Co. c. 1848-1853. Teapot and waste bowl are marked "Tiffany, Young & Ellis", creamer has "271 Broadway" mark, sugar bowl marked by Mulford & Wendell (Albany, NY).
    This majestic set measures:
    - Teapot is 6" in diameter at the widest, 4 1/4" in top and base diameter, 10 1/4" from spout to handle, 8 1/4" tall (without the finial) and weighs 945 grams;
    - Creamer is 4 1/4" in diameter at the widest, 2" in top diameter, 3 1/4" in base diameter, 5 1/4" from spout to handle, 7" tall and weighs 426 grams;
    - Sugar bowl is 5 1/4" in diameter at the widest, 4 1/8" in top diameter, 3 7/8" in base diameter, 8" from handle to handle, 7 1/2" tall (without the finial) and weighs 718 grams;
    - Waste bowl is 6 1/2" in diameter at the widest, 5 5/8" in top diameter, 4 1/4" in base diameter, 5 3/4" tall and weighs 665 grams.
    Total weight is 2,754 grams or 88.55 ozs troy.
    The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
    The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
