Modern Colonial sterling silver coffee set on tray. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1920. This set comprises coffeepot, creamer, and sugar on tray.
Coffeepot: Tall and tapering ovoid body with s-scroll handle, scroll-bracket handle, hinged and domed cover with vasiform finial, and raised foot. Creamer: Tapering ovoid body with helmet mouth, high scroll-bracket handle, and raised foot. Sugar: Round and tapering bowl, high scroll-bracket side handles, domed cover with vasiform finial, and raised foot. Traditional forms enlivened with alternating wide and narrow facets. The emerging geometric style adapted to old fashioned tastes.
Fully marked including maker's stamp and director's letter m. Coffeepot, creamer, and sugar have pattern no. 18819 (first produced in 1915) as well as consecutive order nos. 6836 (coffeepot), 6837 (sugar), and 6838 (creamer). Tray has pattern no. 19242, which was first produced in 1917.
