ITEM DESCRIPTION
Item Description
Up for your consideration is a
Hungarian Centerpiece by Sandrik. Silverplated centerpiece designed like a balance scale, is comprised of a central bowl on pedestal. Tapered round base leads up to a central support column which is adorned with guilloche enamel badges on either side in the form of wreathes with red and white rondelles. Wavy edge bowl atop the column is adorned with four enamel badges which depict a female in profile. Directly atop these profile badges are sections of reed & ribbon trim. Coming out from either side of the central column are openwork arms which supports two individual hanging baskets. Each hanging basket is adorned with similar enamel feathers on the front and back sides of the tops. The bowls of the baskets are decorated with multi-colored enamel badges depicting leaves and blossoms. Underside of central base is stamped "Sandrik A.E."
Measurements
The piece is 14.5" tall, 16.75" wide, and 9.5" deep. The diameter at the base is 8". The removable scales each measure 6.5" tall, 6.6" wide, and the glass pieces measure 4.5" in diameter.
Condition Report
Overall, the piece is in excellent condition, with the exception of a cracked, but stable. glass insert (as shown). There is some wear to one of the enameled portraits on the top portion of the centerpiece.
