Vintage Republic Period Black Chinese Cloisonné Lidded Desk / Jewelry box c.1930

Description

This fine Republic Period Chinese black Cloisonné box with a hinged lid probably dates to the second quarter of the 20th c.  The austerity of its color makes it a unique and gives it great impact.  It is 6.25" x 3.5" x 2.75" (tall).  The interior is lined with a dense dark Chinese hardwood.  It is generally in good condition with a little enamel loss and a bit of wire loss on the top front and back edges of the lid and at the lower right front corner (see photos).  These issues do not detract from the beauty of this piece.
