    Description
***This listing is one of several lots of better antique sterling silver from a wealthy New England Estate that we have to offer. Please save us to your favorite sellers or bookmark us and check back to see the other fine silver offerings!***
Today we are delighted to offer for sale a beautiful antique Edwardian 5-piece tea/coffee service by Watson!
The Watson Company, as it was known in the 1920s, was a major American (out of Attleboro, Mass. right here in our backyard!) producer of fine sterling flatware, services and other pieces from 1890-1955. Based on the marks on this set, this lovely sterling service was crafted sometime between 1905 and 1929.
This elegant and formal 5-piece sterling set includes both a tall and short tea pot (or coffee and tea pot, if you prefer) with attached lids, a covered sugar bowl, open creamer, and open "waste bowl". All pieces are engraved with an ornate flower and leaf motif that wraps around the piece and drops down into an open shield shape on the broad sides of each piece. Sweet curlicues offset the geometry of the engraving's lines. The pieces' squared-off shape and handles compliment the look. Each piece is monogramed with a fanciful "CEH(?)" inside the cartouche on one side (while the other side of each piece is blank) and feature hexagonal bases; the handles are squared off as well. Both the coffee and tea pot feature bone insulators on their handles. Pieces are all marked with the Watson silvermark, "sterling", "76B" and "Smith Patterson Co." on the bottom.
This set presents in good antique condition with minor wear, tarnish and patina commensurate with age and use. We gave each piece a cursory cleaning and polishing, but the remaining marks could easily be removed with a more thorough polish job. There is a significant dent in the tea pot's handle that would require a jeweler's attention to remedy if you'd bother. This set would make a beautiful addition to any fine sterling collection. Fresh to the market!
